Iran has increased its uranium enrichment capacity due to a demand to stop doing so

Iran has increased its uranium enrichment capacity after reports of US plans to demand a suspension of this activity. This is reported by RIA Novosti with reference to the local atomic energy Organization.

It is noted that the reaction of Tehran is related to the us threats to restore all sanctions in 30 days. The organization does not know whether the dispute resolution mechanism will be used to restore restrictions against Iran or whether the current situation will continue. “The atomic energy organization has made great strides to ensure (indicator b) 190 thousand SWU,” its representatives stressed.

Earlier, the state Department said that Washington will restore all restrictions against Tehran in 30 days. The requirement that Iran suspend all work related to uranium enrichment will also come into force again. This was due to the fact that the American draft resolution on extending the arms embargo against Iran on August 14 did not receive the necessary number of votes in the UN security Council

The UN Security Council rejected a us resolution to extend the arms embargo against Iran. US Secretary of state Mike Pompeo said that now the world sponsor of terrorism will be able to freely sell and buy conventional weapons. He also assured that the US will continue to work to restrict the export of weapons from Iran and imports to the country.

The US has repeatedly demanded an extension of the ban on arms deliveries to Iran, which expires on October 18, 2020, in accordance with the terms of the so-called Tehran nuclear deal with the US, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany. At the same time, in 2018, the American side announced its withdrawal from this agreement and threatened Iran with additional sanctions.
